Amalgamated Local 838
Some union locals are representatives for workers at a single unit or
company. Local 838 represents workers in an amalgamation of companies, and
multiple units within companies. The Executive Board is the
administrative body of the local. These people are responsible for the
facilities and making recommendations to the membership on issues and
expenditures. All recommendations must be approved by the membership to
become reality.
The Unit Chairpersons are responsible for the contractual portions
between the union and the company. They are the ones who administer the
grievance procedure and lead the contract negotiations.
